What could be more exciting than combining the celebratory atmosphere of a wedding with an exotic get-away to a far off land. Often the selected destination holds some special meaning for the couple, or perhaps it might just be somewhere they have always dreamt of visiting (like Barbados). One of the most appealing aspects of a destination wedding for the guests is the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture, foods and traditions via the intimate gatherings (pre/post wedding) organized by the couple. Finally, destination weddings often mean a smaller guest list, which means they can sometimes be less expensive than large formal weddings in the couple’s home town.

When planning a destination wedding, it is important to bear in mind that most of the guests will require adequate notice to book time off of work. Twelve to fifteen months is ideal notice for your guests, however we have planned destination weddings with as little as one month’s notice.
Organizing your own wedding and logistics from overseas can be extremely overwhelming, so hiring a competent event professional on the ground is one sure way to put your mind at ease.  Not only would they have existing relationships with the local vendors, but they are also likely to have experience working at your selected venue.  In addition to this, working with a coordinator allows you to spend more time enjoying your wedding celebrations with your guests, secure in the knowledge that someone else is handling all of the logistics.
Twenty years of hands-on work experience both designing and producing events has given me a strong sense of what works and what does not work in the events industry, both in Barbados and the wider Caribbean.
Barbados weather is generally warm and sunny all year round with an average daytime high of 30°C / 86°F. In fact, Barbados has over 3,000 hours of sunshine each year! The prevailing northeast tradewinds blow steadily so that although it is bright and sunny, it is not unbearably hot. The nights are usually slightly cooler. The rain typically comes in quick showers. The dry season lasts from January to June.
It is very easy to get married in Barbados as there is no required waiting period or minimum length of stay. Application for a marriage licence must be made by both parties in person at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs in the capital city Bridgetown. You will require:

  • Valid passports or birth certificates.
  • Return tickets.
  • If either party was divorced, an original Decree Absolute or a certified copy of the Final Judgment.
  • If either party was previously married and widowed, a certified copy of the Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate in respect of the deceased spouse.
  • For a Roman Catholic ceremony, the relevant documents must be sent by your bishop to the bishop of Bridgetown.
  • Where necessary, all documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation.

You may contact the Ministry of Home Affairs at tel: 246-228-8950/fax: 246-437-3794.

Our fees are based upon the scope of work required, which would be determined during our initial meetings.
